A private client approached us to design and manufacture a one-of-a-kind 200mm centre door knob for their distinctive “quirky house” called The Smurf House in the heart of Salcombe, Devon. The brief called for a statement piece that combined contemporary design with artisan craftsmanship, while reflecting the coastal character and playful personality of the property. The client specifically requested a bronze finish to create a striking contrast against their bright yellow front door, ensuring the handle would stand out as a bold architectural feature.
Working closely with the client, we developed a bespoke design featuring a terrazzo inlay, carefully selected to complement the house’s vibrant aesthetic and interior finishes. Precision engineering was required to achieve a flawless connection between the terrazzo surface and the metal surround, ensuring both visual impact and functional durability.
The finished 200mm centre door knob is a striking focal point, combining premium materials with meticulous attention to detail. The warm bronze finish enhances the bold contrast with the yellow door, while the terrazzo inlay adds texture and individuality.
