Before Ordering
You might find the information below helpful when searching for and selecting your perfect hardware. Fee free to give us a call if you need further clarification on anything.
Useful Technical Information
- All door handles/lever are supplied sprung as standard – Please advise if you would like them un-sprung
- All door knobs are supplied un-sprung as standard – Please advise if you would like them sprung
- Always ensure heavy duty latches and locks are used with our products and avoid using the tubular style. Our door hardware is all made of solid brass and therefore needs suitable strength springs to ensure it operates correctly.
- Centres for standard lever keyway lock plates are 57mm unless specified otherwise at the time of order – Please advise if the centres you plan to use are different to 57mm.
- Centres for Euro Profile or Oval Profile should be specified at the time of order. If not provided we will contact you for further clarification.
- Centres for door handles and door knobs on rose with separate escutcheon or privacy lock will be determined by the lock being used. Be sure to account for the overall diameter/size of rose to ensure there is sufficient space left between the handle/knob and lock, both mechanically and aesthetically.
- The backset for door knobs should be such that the knob does not foul against the door stop (the part of the frame the door closes against) when the door is opened or closed.
- Door handles and door knob spindles are 8mm x 8mm square. Privacy lock spindles are 5mm x 5mm square
- Door handle and door knob spindles and privacy lock spindles are sent to suit door widths of up to 70mm. Should your door width be less than this then spindles can be cut on site but please be sure to cut an equal amount from each end and not cut just one end.
- Products which are provided for sample production should be considered surplus to orders. In most cases samples provided will not be fit for purpose after they have been used for mould or pattern creation and as such BA cannot be held liable for any loss of, damage to and replacement of said sample.
- Every product order is supplied with all fixings necessary as well as templates for spotting holes prior to mounting.
- Many products are sent with a protective film around moving parts to ensure any surface finish is not damaged during transit. It is important not to remove this film prior to fitting to ensure no damage is done during fitting. Only remove the film after the product is fully fitted.
Our Lead Times
- Every single product that is purchased from us is made to order. We keep some of our most popular items in their most popular finishes in stock ready to be shipped but this accounts for only 5% of the products we offer. As a result the lead time for products is stated as 3 weeks minimum. It could be less but the standard is 3 weeks.
- If your requirement or project is particularly time sensitive and the volume of product required is reasonable then please contact to see if these lead times can be improved upon.
- Cast products can incur extended lead times due to the untechnical nature of the process and our subsequent rejection rates. This can cause delays and extensions to lead times which are outside of our control and so this should be considered if ordering a cast product – Most period styles are cast such as Adam, Louis, Burlington, Governor.
- Products that require Gold Plating, Silver Plating or Rose Gold Plating have extended lead times of 4-6 weeks.
- Products that require a PVD finish have extended leads times of 8-10 weeks as standard. This should be allowed for when project planning.
Warranty Scope
- Specialist finishes such as PVD or Gold plating have an extended warranty period of 10 years.
- Electro-plated finishes have a warranty period of 2 years.
- Our warranty terms only cover components as sold in the finish shipped. Any adaption or re-finishing of products will void any warranty term unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to shipping.
- Non-electroplated finishes are living finishes and as such age with time, use, and exposure to elements. For this reason, identical products ordered and supplied at different periods of time will not have an exact matching finish.
- For products externally mounted in coastal areas care should be taken to ensure the correct surface finish is selected. We cannot accept liability for any loss of or damage to products which have deteriorated quickly because of their location. Please seek clarification if you are at all unsure about what finish you may need if you live in these areas.
